COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa (AP) - An Ohio man has been arrested after authorities found 48 pounds of high grade marijuana in a horse trailer.
A trooper with the Iowa State Patrol pulled over 38-year-old Michael Spahlinger of Cleveland Heights on Thursday.
Authorities say the trooper pulled him over near the Iowa-Nebraska state line for a routine search of the horse trailer he was pulling.
The trooper eventually called in a K-9 unit that helped uncover marijuana in a void in the front of the horse trailer. It had been covered with hay bales and horse manure.
Spahlinger was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and booked into a county jail. An animal control unit took the horses.
